At a loss

Someone told me casually over a conversation "I dont remember how much memory my Cellfone memory card has"

Tall woman

Every woman stands taller than the man she marries by the deeds she does in the course of that marriage.

The Little One

When it is your little one, you admire even his/her smallest proficiency though you get annoyed when someone narrates in great detail their little-one’s extra-ordinarily ordinary dexterity!

Walk to S-11

"S-12 is so far, its just S-2 now. Throw in a couple of AC coaches, that's one helluva walk. Also why dont they make the platforms more even, can't even pull my strollies here". These thoughts were immediately quietened as I saw a beautiful 22ish girl guide three 80ish oldies and tell them "Our coach is S-11". As we reached S-6, the girl said with a moan "Thatha, my legs are aching. Wonder why they can't even make the platforms even". The old man replied with a maturity that comes with age “Let me carry the bag, little one".

Triplicane

The place you grew up has the ring of your mom's kitchen. Each aroma arouses a million memories. As I strolled through the crowded, noisy, dirty streets the only thoughts that raced through my mind were perfect memory of my imperfect childhood. To re-live the beauties you ogled, the classes you enjoyed, the games you won, the bruises you carried, the failures you endured, the destitution you suffered. More exhilarating than a million orgies.

Being a parent

Being a parent is being nothing else but a parent. Period.

Russians please learn to bath!

I would have forgiven them for the cold climes, but when in New York, Russians got to bathe!

I love polar bears. They are cute and cuddly but more importantly, they never travel on a trans-atlantic flight on my adjacent seat!!

Difficult things in life....

Its not winning friends and influencing people, its pressing clothes and packing suitcases.

Brownie Points

Chilly New York evening, standing in the line for cabs...

In a distance, hear two cabbies tussling with profanities peppered in to the already lousy conversation.

Cop: "Cut the crap, If you want to fight, go back to Pakistan"

I instinctively smile and immediately stop as the cop adds "...or India"

Desi Restaurant

As I entered the Indian restaurant, the brightness of the colours and the loudness of the noise thrilled the homesick me to bits.

After the starters, sunk in to the Parathas and Bhaingan masala. The food was hot and tasty

I noticed a good looking, long-haired Indian speak in an alien American twang "Dad, look at this. We can get the same food in this restaurant that we would get back in India. But then, we dont have undergo the hassle of clogged drains, bad road and hot weather like the folks down there".

Just then I noticed, the rice wasnt well cooked and the Bhaingan masala had way too much spice.

Quickly called the check and left the fake India.

Chennai

There are beaches I surfed
Girls I loved, streets I loafed
Now, whenever to Chennai my thoughts wander
Its invariably to you they meander!

Hosur Road

Traffic on Hosur Road is like a penny stock that I bought as adventurous, carefree investor...

Each time you think you have seen its worst low, it proves you wrong by sinking deeper in to abyss

Distance

Lost in the maelstorm of emotions
Blinded by the frustration of an existential life
Rather than drowning you with my commotions
I silently acquiesce the pain of our strife

Hot Temper

Does it represent your natural, unimpaired and untempered opinion or is it a temporary aberration of reason?

Gateway to heaven

Beautiful married gal faints in the US visa line

It showed...

Man leaves his unbeleivably beautiful wife to make dollars in a distant land
Woman's love, lust, craving for husband hinges on ink on a blue leather cased book

Modern life at its bizzare best.

Google....you are no longer fair and you are no longer my lady

I was "seamlessly" migrated to blogger beta and linked to my google account..

Now google knows...

What I am searching for
What/Whom I Mail
What I write in my Blogs
Knows where my house is

In future if I want to self-introspect, probably will go to google as it knows me better than I do! :P

Show Off

As I drove, peered at those indecipherable words pasted on the rear of the car ahead...

A/C, No Hand Signal...

When I pulled ahead, realized the man was riding with his windows rolled down!

I fear nothing .....part 2

Except the fear that my son would serendipitously bump in to my blog 20 yrs in to the future...

Realize its his dad's..

Shrug his shoulder and say...All dad could do when he was young was also to give gyan!

Typo

He saw her say in the IM windonw "You are No.one for me" and smiled, without realising the '.' was a typo.

Movie Review - Lost in Translation

Movies are different from books (and I hate them for being that) in their making all the conclusions, deciding the whole story for viewer. "LIT" is one of the movies that lays the foundations and lets the viewer build the structure on top of it. Bill Murray, a travelling Hollywood star and Scarlett Johansson, the "housewife" of fashion photographer meet in Tokyo. The incomprehensible Japanese language and sheer boredom of an alien nation draws them together in to an undefined relationship.

The movie is unique in that it leaves questions for you to ponder and draw parallels in your life, when you are in a nation where English is not spoken and the beauty of the surroundings proves an irritation more than a attraction. The undefined attraction betweeen Murray and Johansson is something you experience often in life.

Dont look for this movie in the theaters, as it was released in 2003 :-)

I fear nothing...

except the fear that....

You are my family member, you are reading this post and you know its me!

Mobile Phone Ring

The probability of the mobile phone ringing is inversely proportional to how much you want it to ring!

Dentist

I see this beautiful gal waiting at the dentists'.

My mind starts racing....
Do all good-lookers have dental problems?
What if her smile ain't perfect, at least her body is...
Will her appointment recur the same frequency as mine?

The dentist calls me in and turns on the light...
I close my eyes and wake-up to reality!

Endure

the endless honks

Lady and her Kid

"Arre Bete, have you taken you tennis racket and the guitar..." the beautiful lady told her 10 yr old son.

"I have asked the driver to pick you up from school after the tennis classes and take you to the Guitar class. Remember the guitar class is for three hours today as the teacher is going on a picnic tomorrow" after saying so and waving her son off snuggles in to the sofa, coffee in her hand and sinks in to her favourite sitcom.

Driver & Newspaper

Best traffic day....
Peering out of the window, wind ruffling your hair, thinking of our beloved one

Bad traffic day.....
Sweating, muttering, cursing as you read the newspaper

Worst traffic day......
Driver reading the newspaper!

Girl in the bus stop

I ogle her...

She: Your mind is dirty!

I read the newspaper...

She: Are you blind to beauty?

Meeting

The person who speaks most in a meeting...

is the person least prepared for the meet

is the person who knows least about the topic of discussion

is the person who contributes least to the activity being debated

Traffic Jam

My car..

among a thousand others
moving in a dreadful crawl
as a funeral procession
for the death of the city.

Buttons on my TV remote

Found...
a few buttons on my TV remote with no numbers

Pressed...
those overworked buttons to watch what's so happening in there

Yawned...
at the parade of pointless parables plied as soaps

wondered...
why the beaten path always takes one to a whore's shop?

Dad's love

My dad wants me to give more love to him than he gave to his dad
My son wants me to give more money to him than my dad gave to me...

I give more money to my dad than he gave his dad
and more love to my son than my dad gave me

SImplicity

As I was watching England play Ghana in the soccer worldcup, it suddenly dawned on me....

The best and most popular things in life are simple.

Football is revered around the world for its simplicity of rules (ok i am discounting the offside rule, wonder why they had it??!!). Doesnt make one reach to the rule book for Power Plays, Hitting outside the line, LBW et al......

Google became the bestest site on the internet crowded by a zillion websites by simplifying the art of finding information. So simple that you and I can use it without being a boolean bozo.

If only we extend this to simplify our lives to a few things that we like to do and are good at.

Moral of the story as you have supper watching soccer....simplify yourself!

Wireless broadband

I write this not sitting in swivel chair, crouching to reach my keyboard but reclining ony couch watching TV, chatting with my dad.

Ladies and gentlemen, behold the pleasures of being on a wireless broadband.

8 years back when I started my online life my only net access was in crowded cybercafes where the next man seemed more interested in what is happening to my screen than his!

Gosh, we have come a long way. Wireless access on your laptop at break neck speed from govt. owned BSNL is something even the most optimistic minded yours truly wudnt have envisaged!

Well progress happens so seamlessly that occasionally there are moments like these which hit you and your face and says...

"the future is already here"

Hidden Love

Sometimes you hide your love from each other coz you are expected to
Sometimes your lover hides from you in another city
Sometimes you and your lover hide your love from the world
Yet all the while you are both in fervent love
Your love is winning and your efforts to hide are failing
